OWASP BLT – GSoC Mentor Onboarding Guide
Thank you for your interest in mentoring for OWASP BLT (Bug Logging Tool) under Google Summer of Code (GSoC). Below is the streamlined process to get onboarded.

Connect with a Mentee
- Either a mentee reaches out, or you connect proactively.
- Align on project scope, expectations, and communication.

Join OWASP BLT Slack
- Join the official BLT Slack workspace.
- Get added to relevant GSoC channels.
- Slack is the primary communication medium.

Register as a Mentor
- Sign up at pool.owaspblt.org.
- Complete your mentor profile and availability details.
- Submit and wait for confirmation from the BLT team.

Create a Dedicated Slack Channel
- Mentee creates a new Slack channel.
- Add: mentor, mentee(s), and the project maintainer.
- This becomes the official working channel.

Notify Project Lead
Send a Slack message to the GSoC Admin (message Donnie for more info) including:
- Confirmation you're onboarding as a mentor.
- The mentee you're working with.
- The Slack channel created.

Contribute to BLT
Mentors must actively contribute:
- Submit at least 2–3 minor PRs (bug fixes, improvements, docs).
- Stay engaged with the codebase.
